Issues bothering on type approved metering and proper wiring of buildings, indiscriminate disconnection of electricity consumers, excessive billings and abuse of powers by field officers of the Electricity Distribution Companies took the front burner at the on going Consumer Complaint Resolution Platform Organized by the Federal Competition and Protection Commission, FCCPC under the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company.
Addressing the forum, the Chief Executive Officer of FCCPC, Mr Babatunde Irukera regretted that some field officers display arrogance and disconnect innocent consumers without listening to their explanations yet such consumers were forced to pay reconnection fees.
The week long Electricity Consumer Complaint Resolution started with Eko Electricity Distribution Company before moving to Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company.
Ikeja has more complaints not attended to as some of the consumers expressed dissatisfaction on their response to their complaints.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission FCCPC, Mr Babatunde Irukera who narrated his personal experience with their services advised the officials to shun arrogance and treat their customers with respect.
Mr Irukera emphasized on the need for fundamental changes that will reduce the complaints pointing out that as far as the changes are not made complaints would continue to come.
Mr Irukera said customers impression is great importance in image Management ofany organization.
In a remark, a representative of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency, NEMSA, Mr Usman Momoh who explained the rightful process and procedures of acquring a meter ,advised consumers not to accept any meter without NEMSA seal
The Head Consumer Affairs at the Nigerian Electricity Management Commission, NERC Mr Shittu Shuaibu said they are working on cost reflective tarrifs
The Head of Marketing, Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company, Mrs Ogochukwu Onyenuche assured that all the challenges will be resolved and dollied up.
