FG to infuse culture into modern technology

The federal government is set to infuse the nation’s cultures into modern technology through the reinvention of clay pots, shoes as well as hides and Skin.

The Director Generals National Institute for Cultural Orientation, NICO Otumba Biodun Ajiboye disclosed this as Nigeria joins the world to celebrate the Day for Cultural Diversity.

Otumba Ajiboye explained how the initiative by Culture Orientation Institute to infuse culture into technology could be achieved, adding that if Nigeria didn’t take the necessary step, it would soon loose its identity.

The NICO Director General who frowned at the laxity and abuse of culture in the country said no nation in the world could attain national identity without cultural identity.

What is the institute which is saddled with the responsibility of orientating the public on the essence of culture doing to change the trend? Otumba Ajiboye explained that the Institute has in the last two years put some cultural activities and festivals of the nation on the pedestal of global recognition through UNESCO such as Ifa festival, sango festival, traditional midwifery and the Durbar festival.

Other efforts of Nico includes the campaign on the Return of cultural values at primary and secondary educational level, training of policy makers on cultural orientation courses.
