Labour begins indefinite strike today

The planned nationwide strike by orgnaised labour will start today (Monday) as the last minute meeting between the leadership of the National Assembly, federal government and labour unions on Sunday ended in a deadlock.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) had last week Friday declared an indefinite strike starting from Monday, June 3, 2024, after its negotiations with the federal government on new minimum wage was inconclusive..

The Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of House of Representatives held a meeting with the organized labour and other top government officials at the National Asembly complex on Sunday evening but were unable to arrive at a compromise .
